A New and Exciting Season

First of all I want to apologize for my long absence. It has taken me longer to recover from Vacation Bible School than I expected. Now it is time to get geared up for a new season of ministry. Summer will be over very soon and kids will be getting back to school. As the world turns back toward that routine, we prepare to launch into new things inthe life our of church.

I pray that our current sermon series looking at the life and service of the Moses in the Book of Exodus has been as much of a blessing for you as it has for me. In some sense, I see myself as Moses and the church as Israel. We are taking a journey together. It is a journey that will have trials and difficulties but we are headed toward the promised land. God is doing great things in our midst. We are to faithfully follow and we will see the wonders that He will do before us.

Here are some of the new things that are in store for our church:

1. In September we are splitting the Children's Church into two age groups that will meet in different classrooms, with teachers serving once monthly in rotation.

2. We will begin staffing our nursery once again so that care for infants and toddlers will be available during worship services.

3. We have launched a new Children's Choir, that will perform at least once per month in the sanctuary.

4. We are beginning rehearsals for a new praise band that will help to lead an alternative worship service slatted to begin on Sunday evenings this fall.

5. We are now forming a women's as well as a men's Bible Study group to meet on Wednesday evenings.

6. We are forming a Child Care Co-op for Friday evenings so that families can have free child care, parents can get a much needed night out and kids can have fun together at the church.

7. We will be launching a stewardship focus in October to give attention to our giving and service as individuals and as the body.

8. We are now in the planning stages for the upcoming holiday season as well. Stay tuned for more to follow.

While we are looking at what lies ahead in the next few months, I would like to ask your consideration of how and where you are involved or serving. I believe that each one of us should be in at least one formational activity in the life of the church. We are not very likely to grow in faith without intentional participation. That might be Sunday School class, a small group or a Bible Study. I would love to speak with you about where and how you might best benefit.

We have much to celebrate and give thanks for. Our little church is not so little any more. There is a hope, an energy and a sense of the Spirit moving that are hard to miss. I am thankful for your continuing support and dedication. There are not many churches that have the strong feeling of community that we have at Audubon Park.

Blessings to you all!

Pastor Dmitri
